Now don’t worry! This “bug” is not actually an insect! Today, we are talking about earworms and how to kick them out of our brains.

It has a rather interesting name, but an earworm, in its most basic sense, is a song that is stuck in your head. You may even have a tune playing in your mind right now! But why does this happen to us? Is it a form of torture, or could it be our life’s soundtrack?

Thankfully, it seems scientists are pretty close to knowing why we keep humming the same tunes. One of our favorite YouTube channels, Sci Show, brings us through the findings and gives us a few tricks to stop it in its tracks.

Well, that’s actually a much more feasible concept than I thought!

It seems that earworms are pests to some, delightful to others, and yet curious to all. Now that you know why it happens, are you going to try to finish your favorite songs to the end or stick around in the car until that annoying song finishes?

Or perhaps you happen to enjoy hearing a piece of your favorite ditty throughout the day?

An earworm may be one of the smaller joys of life, but if we tried to appreciate those little gifts a bit more, we may just all be happier in the end.

At the very least, the next time someone around you complains about having sticky music, you now know how to help them out!

Be understanding, be passionate, be joyous. But most of all, be yourself.
