Did you know pigeons can learn to become spellcheckers?

If that question didn’t capture your attention I’m not sure what will!

Why appreciate pigeons? Yes, pigeons can find misspelled words, and that’s not all they can do. As it turns out, these creatures, so hated for their only seeming talents of statue destruction and crumb searching, are much smarter than we give them credit for!

Pigeons actually have quite an interesting history. They have been food staples, messengers, pets, even potential weapons of war! It wasn’t until relatively recently that we stopped appreciating this creature’s full potential. Maybe after watching this video, you’ll see these birds in a new light!

Here is one of our favorite YouTube channels, It’s Okay To Be Smart, to fill you in. It’s Okay To Be Smart is a great source to satisfy your creativity. You can find them here!

Remarkable, right? Maybe the common pigeon has a little more to offer than we give it credit for. Maybe we should appreciate the animals who live on the fringes of our civilization a little more.

What can we learn from the other animals who have adapted to urban life?

I have said it before, but we don’t have to wander half-way around the world to find marvels of nature. Squirrels can be fascinating, the common pigeon intelligent, rats remarkable, we just have to appreciate what we are looking at.

Maybe that’s why I love learning about this fun history of the rock dove. I like being able to appreciate the world around me fully!

Nature is like a language. If we don’t understand it, we can not fully appreciate its richness, its subtleties, or why it is to be cherished. And, like language, we can learn to read it.

All of us can walk into the world and see more wonder, and perhaps the easiest way to do that is to take the time to learn about the nature that makes this planet so remarkable!

Stay beautiful & keep laughing!
