Welding in space? How can that be any different from welding here on earth? Wait, how does welding here on earth even work?

It turns out even though I have spent a lot of my time around flying sparks and metal I knew little to nothing about how welding works, particularly about the unique way welding works in space! It’s remarkable how much science is out there that we think we understand but really have no clue about.

Today, we appreciate some remarkable science that we all come into contact with on a daily basis, but probably barely understand.

As you may or may not know Dr. Lynda, EWC’s founder, is an avid welder in her spare time. So, when we came across the video we are going to show you today, we thought it might be cool to look at welding from a different perspective, space, also known as “cold welding”!

So, here is the great YouTube channel Veritasium to explain the fascinating science behind a force that literally binds us, well the metal in our lives anyway…

Find the world fascinating!

I will certainly look at the welded world with a little more awe from now on!

Whenever I stumble across an article like this to share on EWC, I find myself carrying the knowledge I learned into the far reaches of my life. In particular, I look at the world, even in the most subtle ways, with awe.

Whether you are 9 or 99, the world is still an amazing place, we just have to choose to see it that way. We can look at the welds that hold our life together and shrug them off as mundane, or we can learn more about them and find them fascinating. Our perspective is up to us.

How would your day look if you walked around taking a moment to pause and admire the little things in your life? Perhaps we would find ourselves seeing a world filled with far more possibility if we chose wonder and awe a little more often!

So, go out and find the world a little more fascinating, I promise it won’t disappoint!
