What happens when you take dance, flip it sideways, and defy gravity on the side of a building? It may point us all to potential everywhere and possibilities we never imagined!

Some innovation really take you off your feet. They challenge so many assumptions that they feel like a breakthrough that somehow involves us all. This is BANDALOOP, an incredible dance troupe that is re-imagining our relationship to dance, space, public art, and they make the ordinary seem fresh and remarkable forever.

It’s hard to describe in words the wonders these dancers are capable of inspiring so I will keep this introduction short and begin with one of their more recent productions in Boston, Massachusetts.

This is the kind of magic that happens when you break the mold. So without further ado, here’s the incredible BANDALOOP:

Via: BANDALOOP 1

Incredible, right? But there’s more in it than wonder.

There is something so magical, so enchanting about the weightlessness and grace of it. It’s easy to forget that they are performing stories above the ground!

Bandaloop cracks the door open to possibilities yet to be explored and that’s a gift to all of us.

So, how did this remarkable dance company come to be? Here’s an EWC favorite, Great Big Story, with a close-up look. If you haven’t discovered Great Big Story yet, it’s really worth diving into! Find them here and just get lost in the wonderful world they highlight and curate for us all!

Finally, just one more video.

As I watched the first two videos I found myself asking what is it like to be a BANDALOOP dancer? Here’s the answer from a video by Harper’s BAZAAR:

Breaking the mold…

What does it mean to defy convention? To be an out of the box thinker?

I think part of what makes BANDALOOP so special is that it takes something we have all seen before, dance, and brings it to an entirely new place. We are left speechless because, in all ways, it makes the familiar so very unfamiliar.

As someone who is terribly afraid of heights, watching these dancers struck such a strong chord in me I even researched to see how I could try it! (Which you can do, they have classes!) Now that is moving.

We have to celebrate wonders like BANDALOOP more often! As they break the mold, they make it easier for others to imagine and shape the infinite possibilities out there. To inspire the future we have to applaud what’s possible in the present.

What creative marvels are among us as we speak that will shift our perspectives in entirely new ways? I’m not sure, but I’m excited to see them!

Stay beautiful & keep laughing!
