Do we take enough time to appreciate the things in life that bring us joy? Do we savor the moments that make us truly happy?

Joy can be a wellspring for resilience. It can give us strength in the face of adversity, and give us the energy to go further than we ever expected.

Finding joy in life doesn’t have to be a complicated process. It can be as simple as noticing the subtle beauty in the world.

Joy can come in many forms, but it’s potential is unlimited.

For Andre de Souza Carlos, finding joy in the beautiful game of soccer became a life-changing source of happiness after he lost his sight.

The way he talks about the game that has given him so much joy is a beautiful reminder of how much we all need to recognize and appreciate the things that bring us happiness in life!

Here’s one of EWC’s favorite YouTube Channels, Great Big Story, with Andre’s story…

Great Big Story is curating incredible things in this world. Go check them out!

What fuels you?

We can choose to see the world exclusively in terms of the negative, or we can search for those moments in our life that make us happiest.

Gratitude for the things that bring us joy helps us retrain our all too easy habits of seeking out moments of cynicism and negativity. As we give ourselves a vocabulary to talk about the world in terms of hope and optimism, we begin to change the way we think about the world.

Joy is what fuels us, and we are the ones that have to decide to find it out in the world.

I’ll leave you with a challenge for the day. Try and recognize moments throughout the day that make you happy or bring you joy. What were they? Even better, write them down when you run into them. You may find how simple it can be to change your state of mind and find happiness in your every day.

Stay beautiful & keep laughing!
