Our skies are capable of creating incredible wonders of light, cloud, and color!

From sunsets to rainbows, storms clouds to the northern lights, the skies are capable of some pretty amazing feats. Today, we explore a rare but stunning phenomenon caused by ice crystals and the sun.

Though you might think these are rainbows, they are indeed, not! These amazing light displays are often called sundogs, and they are the result of some pretty cool science.

For the science behind sundogs, we turn to It’s Okay To Be Smart, one of EWC’s favorite YouTube channels!

Now there’s a little science that will leave you feeling a little smarter today! If you’re after more like that, go check out It’s Okay To Be Smart on YouTube. We guarantee that a dive into their content will leave you optimistic and full of new knowledge.

In fact, just a few weeks ago I came across a sundog with my family and was able to explain the science behind it all to them.

The more I work with and write for Ever Widening Circles, the more I find myself able to tell other people about amazing things happening the world around me!

It’s a great feeling to know that there is a community of thousands of lifelong learners and explorers all over the world that are as interested in proving that this is still an amazing world. I’ve said it before, but one of the greatest gifts of living in this era is te power we all have to never stop learning about the world around us.

The more we know about this planet and the universe that surrounds it, the more we can do to make sure that all of its wonders are here for generations to come!

Stay beautiful & keep laughing!
