What do you think happens when a 36-year-old Harvard brain scientist experiences her own stroke?

Few professionals would ever get such a personal perspective: becoming an infant in a woman’s body and recovering to tell about it, with a stroke of insight impossible to gain any other way.

The story is riveting and will give you some remarkable knowledge about the brain, in a hugely entertaining way that you might never have thought you cared about! After you see this TED Talk, you’ll know why it’s had over 15.5 million views!

Do you remember hearing about the Left Brain and Right Brain?

And the stroke of insight here?

Jill’s story also leaves us with something a little deeper to think about, beyond the science of a stroke.

She offers us an opportunity to transform the way we think about beauty and the power of our minds. The part of her brain that handles analysis, language, and planning was shut down by her stroke, leaving her with only the use of her right brain (the creative, carefree, philosophical part) when she needed to get herself some immediate help.

That twist gives us all an unusual window into possibility. See what you think…

Enjoy!
