Are there people in this world that you quite literally could not live without?
Today is National Best Friends day, and in honor of this we want to share with you a story that serves as a remarkable testament to the power of friendship!
Best friends Jia Haixia and Jia Wenqi have been planting a forest together for 10 years to create a better life and environment for their town in rural China. Their story has a small catch, one of the men lost his arms as a child and the other lost his vision 16 years ago. Their incredible relationship shows us the beauty that love, friendship, and dedication can create!
This pair has a few limitations, but their huge hearts and passion for the health of the environment push them beyond their physical handicaps. So, without further ado, here’s the story of Jia Haixia and Jia Wenqi and how they’ve planted over 10,000 trees together over the past 10 years, brought to us by A Great Big Story.
These best friends show us that even when life hands you hard times, when your body doesn’t work the way you want it to, we can still accomplish anything with a little drive and help from our friends.
Have you ever had that friend who makes you feel like you can do anything?
A friend that’ll work with you to push past your limitations, who boosts you when you need the boosting, who you feel a strong connection with? If you’ve ever been so lucky to have that someone (or someones) then you know that there’s power inside of that type of relationship. It’s a gorgeous feeling to have that relationship with someone, so I urge you to work hard to keep it.
Work together and don’t give up. Even if you’ve moved away from each other and don’t speak as much as you’d like, send them a little message every once in awhile to let them know that you’re thinking of them. Let them know that they’re amazing and that you’re still there to give all of the support you can. This one small kind act will brighten their day, I guarantee it.
